(Aug 2006) President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo poses with this year’s 10 Outstanding Teachers of the Philippines who received their respective gold medallions in ceremonies held Tuesday afternoon (August 30) at Malacanang’s Rizal Hall. The outstanding teachers were chosen for their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession, personal integrity and character, instructional competence, and professional and community involvement. The awardees are (not in order): For the Elementary Category—Amelia C. Castaneda of Sto. Cristo Elementary School, Tarlac City; Vilma C. Cabrera of Ilagan South Central School, Ilagan, Isabela; Julia R. Capulong of Padre Mariano Gomez Elementary School, Manila; Menia S. Alvidera of President Manuel Roxas Memorial School South, Roxas City; For Secondary Category—Maylani L. Galicia of Ligao National High School, Ligao City; Diana S. Aure of University of the Philippines High School in Iloilo City; Janet S. Amurao of Marikina Science High School; Elnora T. Ordedor of Dapa National High School, Surigao del Norte; For Higher Education Category—Rafael C. Bundoc of University of the Philippines Manila and Manuel C. Belino of De la Salle University.
