Lets not get too excited... Its only an airport with "international standards." This means jet ways and a real baggage claim and ticket counters unlike the ones at Mandurriao. At best, maybe an upgrade to a 757 by Cebu Pacific. PAL A330 is probably is too much of a stretch and will more than likely keep it down to B737s and A320s. You'll still have to go Manila or Cebu to leave the country.

::)I hope the international standards that they are promising is for real not only by name. All those unecessary extra bodies in the form of porters as soon as you land at Manduriao airport is a dragg. They add more stress to your very physically stressful long air travel, it's not a joke, plus they harrass you for tips even if they have not helped you at all. If these people only knew what we foreing workers have to do inorder to get this kind of pay. What I am looking forward to is the short drive home to Cabatuan somewhere in the east, maybe I can try going thru the fence and take the tricyle home or better still the carosa, it will be more fun.

I also have posted my question to some other ?sites hoping someone can see them and provide me some answers and solutions.
I am a realtor and had a piece of property under a falipino friends name between Cabatuan and San Miguel.I just wanted to know if when are you ladies and gentlemen can constuct a cement or asphalt road that connects these two towns.I have seen that the city of Iloilo and the neighboring towns have these great big potentials, And for us businessmen and women are purty much interested to bring good and equal oppurtunities to ya'll.So i would like to know your leaders opinions before we will take these to somewhere else.
Million thanks
Susan West

GOOD NEWS !
Posted on The News Today....July 27, 2009
P124M secondary access road for new Iloilo airport to start within the year
The construction of the P124-million secondary access road that will directly link the Municipality of Cabatuan to the new Iloilo airport will start within the year.
Cabatuan Mayor Ramon Yee said the project which will be funded by the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) will pass through barangays Tabucan, Tiring, Gaub, Talanghauan and Duyan-Duyan and end right about 100 meters away from the main gate of the airport.
Once completed, Yee said, the access road is expected to spur economic activities within the area with the entry of some industries needing the services of the airport.
“In the later years, maybe still in our time, we will see small scale and non-polluting agro-industrial/agro-processing firms that will be established because they took cognizance of the proximity of the airport,” he added.
Yee said a pre-construction survey was already conducted last Wednesday.
He said the secondary access road will be an alternate route for those coming from the third district of Iloilo and southern Capiz.
Likewise, three road development projects leading to the airport are expected to be completed before the term of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ends in 2010.
DPWH regional director Rolando Asis said the road widening, rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the 13.10-kilometer Iloilo City-Pavia-Sta. Barbara road and the 11.86-kilometer Metro Iloilo Radial Road connecting Zarraga-Tacas, Jaro–Pavia are 22 percent completed as of June, this year.
The two projects cost P1.2 billion.
At the same time, the P319 million Pototan-Bga. Dawis-New Lucena-Sta.Barbara road was 15 percent completed as of June and is expected to be finished by December this year.
“This will make travel to the airport more convenient for those coming from the northern portion of Iloilo and at the same time, will also boost economic development along these areas,” Asis said

during the latter part of my 1st term as SB of the Municipality in 2007, I remember it right we started negotiating for a right of way for the proposed or maybe approved access road from barangay Tabucan to the Airport.. and if i remember it right, there was an approved budget already for that...
last Sept 11, 2009 i flew in from Manila to attend the fiesta of Sanicolas Street.. there i took a taxi cab passing the old road heading for barangay Tiring.... and i was looking around for that supposed access road and it seems that project was never materialized. in other words, the municipality has done nothing to get the project going... hahaha! ill use the same word of asus a asus a ".... ti hamak mo banwa.. waay labot uma..
i hope that in this coming may election, a more visionary leader will be elected...
God bless Cabatuan.....
